Happy bugs start with good care
Their world, thoughtfully made.
Isopods
Keep a moisture gradient with a damp area and a drier retreat. Provide leaf litter, decaying hardwood and a calcium source. Ventilation and species-specific conditions matter.
Millipedes
Provide a deep substrate rich in decomposed leaves and suitable rotten hardwood. Keep it appropriately moist, not waterlogged. Research the temperature and depth required by your species, and minimise handling.
Springtails
Maintain suitable moisture and ventilation for your species. Offer small amounts of appropriate food and avoid overfeeding. Springtails help break down organic matter but do not replace regular enclosure care.
Building a bioactive home
Choose a suitable enclosure with ventilation, pesticide-free materials and appropriate substrate. Allow the habitat to settle, monitor conditions and make sure every species sharing the enclosure is compatible. Never release captive animals or cultures into the wild.
